Oft-ignored
Vegetable Fat May be a Killer
Processed-food ingredient could double
heart-attack risk, report says |
Washington,
DC -- A startling report out of Harvard University
says a little-known type of fat that lurks in margarine
and other processed foods could be responsible for
30,000 of the United State's annual heart-disease
deaths.
"Will people be shocked? I suspect so," said Dr. Walter Willett, Harvard's nutrition
chief and a renowned researcher on diet and heart disease. "Many people who are
trying to make good nutritional decisions for themselves and their kids are being
grossly misled." |
