In 2001, we carried out a study with Danish athletes. We gave each athlete 1 tablespoon per 50 pounds (25 kilograms) of body weight per day of Udo's Choice Perfected Oil Blend. Within one month, stamina increased by 40 to 60% in athletes pushing the limits of their performance.

  • A runner increased his distance from 90 to 147 kilometers per week within a month of starting on the oil blend.
  • A cyclist increased his daily distance from 60-80 km/day to 100-120. He had saddle sores at 60-80 km, but they healed while his distance increased to 100-120.
  • A 50-year old body builder returned to workout levels he had been able to accomplish only in his 30s, and he competed effectively against 'kids' in their 30s.
  • A boxer moved from two 1.5-hour workouts daily to two 2.5-hour workouts.

The athletes using Udo's Oil Blend:

  • Could work out longer before becoming weary
  • Recovered from fatigue faster
  • Had injuries heal faster
  • Could build muscle faster
  • Could work out more frequently without over-training
  • Found their joints hurt less
  • Could concentrate better, and performed better
  • Slept better
  • Discovered their mood was better
  • Skin quality had improved

Since many people still believe that eating fats increases risk of heart attack and stroke, we tested cardiovascular risk factors in some of the athletes. Within 3 months:

  • Their triglycerides were down by 21%.
  • Their good HDL cholesterol was up significantly
  • Their so-called bad LDL cholesterol was down significantly
  • Their HDL/LDL ratio was up by 39%

In other words, their performance rose, and so did their cardiovascular health.
One of the athletes was a type 1 (autoimmune) diabetic. He was able to lower his insulin intake by 50% and move from fast-acting to slow-acting insulin.

When the athletes stopped using the oil blend, they lost their extra stamina within approximately 2 weeks. When they returned to using the oil, their stamina came back within about 2 weeks. When the type 1 diabetic went off the oil blend, he had to go back to taking fast-acting insulin at twice the dose. When he began using the oil blend again, he was able to go back down to 50% of the dose and to slow-acting insulin. The diabetic was underweight (common in type 1's). He had used protein and creatine to try to gain weight, with minimal success. When he went on the oil blend at 1 tablespoon/50 pounds of body weight/day, he gained 11 pounds of muscle in 4 weeks.

We have begun another study in which we are testing Udo's Oil Blend with people at the other end of the 'fit to fat' spectrum-people who are obese. In the obesity study, we are measuring cardiovascular and diabetes risk factors, as well as weight. The results of this study should be ready by the end of 2002. I will report on the results of that study when they are available.

In summary, athletes taking 1 tablespoon per 50 pounds of body weight per day of Udo's Choice Oil Blend experienced improvement in both physical and mental performance parameters. Udo's Oil Blend also diminished cardiovascular risk factors, and increased insulin sensitivity.
